The OSU equestrian team defeated Baylor in the finals of the Big 12 equestrian tournament on March 26 in Stillwater.
The shouts and cheers from Cowgirls in the stands felt hollow as they echoed to their teammates on the dirt area 15 feet below. Their long day was far from over, but they had little reason to continue watching or cheering as A&M systematically dismantled the Oklahoma State equestrian team 11-5.
As horsemanship came to a close, only Ty Paris, the Big 12 Rider of the Year had scored a point, and OSU trailed 8-4. The Cowgirls’ supporters quietly rose from their seats and solemnly marched with blank expressions toward the day’s final event, trying hard not accept the inevitable as they put one foot in front another.
