Cowgirl tennis starts fall play with victories

In the Oklahoma State women’s tennis team’s first action of the fall, it went undefeated.

Five Cowgirls competed Thursday at two events.

At the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Masters in Malibu, California, junior Lisa Marie Rioux won two singles matches in straight sets. Pairing with Texas’ Yuya Ito, Rioux also won both doubles matches she played.

Seniors Marina Guinart, Katarina Stresnakova and Sofia Blanco, along with freshman Catherine Gulihur, participated in the Milwaukee Tennis Classic in Wisconsin.

In Gulihur’s OSU debut, she defeated Gabrielle Dekkers of Utah State 6-3, 6-1.

Guinart, Stresnakova and Blanco also picked up straight-set victories in the first round of the tournament.
