The Cowgirls (3-1 overall, 2-0 Big 12) got off to a hot start, scoring the first three points of the meet in equitation over fences. All five members of OSU’s fences team scored an 80 or above, including a pair of 84s from juniors Carly Barrick and Katie Jones. Freshman Hannah Janson, who was making her Cowgirl debut, defeated Carly Barnett with a meet-high 88-67 victory. Janson earned Most Outstanding Performer honors for her efforts. Freshman Kayla Lott, who usually rides in fences, was away competing in a personal competition.

Despite the hot start, OSU surrendered the final two points in fences and three of four points in horsemanship to TCU (2-2, 0-1) to head into halftime, trailing 5-4.
