Cowboys survive Penguins, advance to second round in NIT

OSU guard Caleb Asberry dribbled once, collected the ball and sprung off the ground for a reverse dunk.

The incredible play with 18 seconds left sealed an OSU win and ended an otherwise unspectacular Cowboy performance.

No. 1 OSU beat Youngstown State 69-64 in the first round of the NIT on Wednesday night at the Beeghly Center. The game, held at Youngstown State because of staffing shortages at OSU, was not where the Cowboys — the first team out of the NCAA Tournament — wanted to be.

At times it showed.

The Penguins (24-10) got out to an early lead that swelled to as many as nine.
