Cowboy tennis overpowers Longhorns for first time in 10 years

Tristan Meraut’s teammates radiated enthusiasm as they scrambled to Court 6 and formed a dogpile with Meraut in the middle.

Clouds loomed over the Greenwood Tennis Center as rain began to fall, but the thunder was indoors as the Oklahoma State men’s tennis team defeated Texas 4-2 Sunday afternoon in Stillwater.

Meraut sealed the match with a 6-1, 6-7, 6-3 victory against the Longhorns’ Rodrigo Banzer.

Shouts of “Orange Power” and applause rumbled through the Greenwood Tennis Center as Meraut’s match neared its conclusion.

“After every point, we could hear the crowd supporting us,” Meraut said.
