Cool Breeze and coach Buzz sound like the latest flavor of Gatorade, but hey, apparently energy drink flavors make for cool nicknames.
OSU guard Rondel Walker called his middle school basketball coach “coach Buzz” because his coach “was like Buzz Lightyear.”
Guard Chris Harris Jr. called his former coach Tyrone Maxey “cool breeze” because Maxey was such a laid back and cool guy.
Now, both players call their coach, Mike Boynton, a nickname that might not be as flashy as the ones they’ve used in the past, but one that illuminates the sort of down to earth guy Boynton is.
