Blake Battenfield found himself in a first-inning jam Wednesday at the Big 12 Tournament, putting his day in doubt.
By the time the Oklahoma State right-hander was finished, however, the early struggles were but a brief blip in a 3-0 Cowboys win over Texas Tech at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
Battenfield posted six shutout innings, allowing just four hits – two in the first inning – and striking out four, setting the tone for No. 8-seeded OSU’s takedown of the No. 1 Red Raiders. Carson Teel and Trey Cobb combined for three scoreless innings of relief, handing Tech its first shutout loss since March 3.
