Big 12: Jenni Carlson's Preseason Big 12 Superlatives

JENNI CARLSON, COLUMNIST

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: TREVONE BOYKIN, TCU: He thrived a season ago when the Horned Frogs went to the spread, ranking third nationally in total offense per game with 354.5 yards. Don't be surprised to see him lead the country in that category this season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: SHAWN OAKMAN, BAYLOR: A defensive behemoth at Baylor? Go figure. But a behemoth is what Oakman is. The defensive end is 6-foot-9, 280 pounds, but the shadow he casts will be even bigger. Double-digits sacks seems likely.

NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR: CHRIS CARSON, OKLAHOMA STATE: The running back already has an NFL build at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds.
