Big 12 Baseball Tournament journal: Cowboy fans fill the Brick

Traffic clogged the downtown streets, hinting that Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark would draw a nice crowd for the Big 12 Tournament championship game.

Then long lines at the ticket windows, just minutes before first pitch, confirmed it. Inside, the lines at the concession stands were longer, as the crowd swelled, eventually to an announced attendance of 8,923 — the fourth-largest in Big 12 Tournament history and the largest since 2004.

“I was telling a lot of the freshmen, ‘It's going to be a good crowd the first day, but if we make it to the (championship), you'll see something like you've never seen before,'” said Cowboys pitcher Carson Teel, a Stillwater native who grew up with OSU baseball.
