'All-American prospect': Oklahoma State's Trace Ford gaining high praise despite summer battle with COVID-19

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State’s Trace Ford dropped a bombshell when he made his first-ever media appearance as a Cowboy last Wednesday, revealing that he’d had COVID-19 six weeks earlier.

Vomiting, severe fever and all the other symptoms that come with the dangerous illness. Ford, a sophomore defensive end, says he still feels out of shape, and he had lost nearly 10 pounds.

The odd twist to Ford’s COVID-19 tale was that it was quite the opposite of all the stories the media was hearing about Ford’s performance in preseason camp.

Bigger. Stronger. Faster.

An even more threatening Ford than the one who became a starter by the middle of his true freshman season.
