2016 Pan Am Championships: OSU alum Coleman Scott wins freestyle gold

Coleman Scott, a 2008 national champion at Oklahoma State, won gold at 61 kg/134 lbs. in men's freestyle at the Pan American Championships on Saturday at the Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco, Texas.

The 2012 Olympic bronze medalist defeated Cuero Munoz of Colombia, 8-4, in the finals. Scott scored three takedowns to lead 6-2 at the break. He added another takedown in the second period for the four-point win.

Scott, the current head coach at North Carolina, was joined by Sunkist Kids teammates Jordan Burroughs at 74kg./163 lbs. and Sam Hazewinkel 57kg./125.5 lbs. atop the podium.

Burroughs, the 2012 Olympic gold medalist and two-time undefeated national champion at Nebraska, scored a 12-2 technical fall over Carlos Aruturo Izquierdo Mendez of Colombia.
