The final numbers are in on Big 12 efficiency for 2020, and alas, the final numbers aren’t the final numbers.
Two conference games went unplayed -- OU at West Virginia and Texas at Kansas. That skews what typically is the best feature of the Big 12 efficiency rankings.
Fairness.
Unlike the rest of college football, the Big 12 has a balanced schedule. Every team plays the same teams, other than themselves.
Not so in any other league. And the non-conference variances render statistical comparisons meaningless. When the College Football Playoff uses statistical data to compare teams, it might as well the consumer price index, for all the relevancy it contains.
