The verdict is in on OU basketball in Trae Young's freshman and (virtually certain) only season. The Sooners are a good team, not a great team. They (namely Young) are special in amazement and entertainment, not in accomplishment.
And that's no great knock on the Sooners or Young. They are in good company.
OU lost 75-73 at home Monday night to West Virginia. The Sooners fell to 6-5 in the Big 12, 16-7 overall. In December, they looked like a possible No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. In January, they looked like a Big 12 championship contender.
