Sooners usher in recruiting calendar change with new-look spring game

NORMAN — Caleb Kelly remembers his first Red and White game well.

It's when he fell in love with OU.

As a sophomore in high school, the linebacker made the trip from Fresno, California, with fellow OU recruit Michiah Quick. Two years later, Kelly signed with Oklahoma — and his spring game experience was a big reason why.

Now, a change in the recruiting calendar allows prospects to take paid official visits during the spring of their junior years, giving more recruits an opportunity to have a similar experience to Kelly's.

The Sooners' expected guest list of prospective players reads like a who's who of the 2019 class, and on Friday, five-star receivers Arjei Henderson and Theo Wease and four-star safety Jamal Morris kicked the weekend off by announcing their verbal commitments.
