NORMAN — Oklahoma junior offensive lineman Alex Dalton will miss the 2017 season after suffering a knee injury, Sooners coach Lincoln Riley said Thursday.
“It was an off-the-field injury that happened before camp,” Riley said. “Obviously tough deal for him. He's had a couple of them here.”
Dalton played in six games last season, starting the season opener at right guard before moving into a reserve roll.
Dalton was one of eight offensive linemen the Sooners return who have starting experience.
But the Sooners still have strong depth on the interior of the offensive line with several players able to shift among those spots.
