Sooners' Jalen Hurts named Heisman Trophy finalist

NORMAN — Jalen Hurts is heading to New York City.

The University of Oklahoma quarterback was named a Heisman Trophy finalist Monday, giving the Sooners a finalist for four consecutive seasons.

The award will be presented Saturday night.

OU's quarterback has won the award each of the last two seasons — Kyler Murray a year ago and Baker Mayfield in 2017.

Hurts seems unlikely to make it three, as LSU's Joe Burrow is expected to win the award handily.

Other finalists are Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields and defensive end Chase Young.

The Sooners will play Burrow and LSU in the College Football Playoff in the Peach Bowl on Dec.
