Sooners fall to Longhorns in first round of Big 12 Tournament

Oklahoma's chances at hosting an NCAA Regional got slimmer late Wednesday night as the Sooners opened the Big 12 Tournament with a 8-4 loss to Texas at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

According to most projections released in the days before the tournament began, Oklahoma was right on the bubble of either hosting or having to head out on the road as a No. 2 seed.

Going into the tournament, OU coach Pete Hughes said his team deserved a host spot regardless of what happened this week.

The Sooners still have time to turn it around, as they didn't use a weekend starter until Kyle Tyler's brief appearance in the ninth, which doesn't figure to affect his availability for the weekend if OU can make it that far.
