Ryan Hybl is known around Oklahoma as the younger brother of Nate Hybl. That’s the lot of a golf coach, whose brother quarterbacked the Sooners to a Rose Bowl victory.
But that status could change Wednesday afternoon. Ryan Hybl’s Sooners play Oregon for the NCAA championship in Sugar Grove, Ill. Hybl’s eight years as the OU golf coach have included a stunning ascension for a program, by a coach who was only five years out of playing collegiately when Joe Castiglione hired him in 2009.
Ryan Hybl went to Georgia, just like Nate, except Nate soon transferred to OU in 1999, was a backup on the 2000 national title team and then went 19-3 as the Sooner starter.
