During a roundtable about Oklahoma this spring, the SportsDay colleges writers were asked for a bold prediction about the Sooners.
With nothing immediately coming to mind, I threw out the Florida Atlantic beating Oklahoma in the opener.
This caught the eye of Kyle Nix, the fiddle player for the band Turnpike Troubadours. The Oklahoma Red Dirt country band from a small town called Tahlequah has taken off in recent years and recently toured with Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town. It also happens to be my favorite band.
Naturally, Kyle found my spicy take ridiculous and challenged me to a bet.
