Positive report points to Oklahoma QB John Mateer playing in Red River Rivalry

Finally, a sign pointing toward the Oklahoma Sooners having starting quarterback John Mateer for the Red River Rivalry against unranked Texas.

Mateer injured his throwing hand against Auburn on Sept. 20 and required surgery nearly two weeks ago, and after missing the No. 6 Sooners' last game against Kent State last weekend, the biggest question has been Mateer's status for the Red River Rivalry at 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday in Dallas. According to ESPN's Pete Thamel on Tuesday, it looks like the Sooners could have their QB1 against Texas.
