Pete Kron, longtime OU assistant track coach, dies at 74

Oklahoma Baptist University assistant track and field coach passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 74.

Prior to his time at OBU, Kron was an assistant for OU’s track program from 1974 to 2001. With the Sooners, Kron coached multiple national champions in the shot put, and multiple All-Americans in discus, high jump, long jump and triple jump.

"Pete Kron has been a blessing to OBU in every way," OBU head coach Ford Mastin said in a release. "His quick wit, calm demeanor, and consistent personality helped the athletes under his care reach their potential.
