There aren't enough words to help Oklahoma coach Sherri Coale adequately describe Pat Summitt's legacy.
The legendary Tennessee coach won eight national championships with the Lady Volunteers, recorded 1,098 wins as a head coach and was inducted to the Basketball Hall of Fame. But in August 2011, Summitt announced she had been diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease and retired following the 2012 postseason.
Summitt's family released a statement Sunday requesting prayers, as her condition worsens.
It's a somewhat familiar situation for Coale within her own family.
“I think we all dreaded it and knew it was coming at the same time,” Coale said in a phone interview Monday.
