On the opening night of the Women's College World Series -- seems like a million years ago instead of last week, doesn't it? -- Nicole Mendes was asked about being back on college softball's biggest stage after failing to win a title a year ago.
As the Oklahoma outfielder is wont to do, she gave an honest answer.
An insightful one, too.
"It was awesome," she said of getting back to the WCWS. "I just looked around and I was like, 'This is so cool. Not everyone gets to come to the World Series, and I've been able to come every single year.
