OU men's basketball: Not your average "Daug"

D-o-g — spells dog.

D-a-w-g — the slang way to spell it, and how the University of Georgia does it.

D-o-g-g — only if you’re Snoop.

So why does Oklahoma’s Top Daug spell its name with a “u?” The answer is simple: branding.

When Top Daug was first introduced, it had a logo where the word “Top” was positioned above the word “Daug.” This allowed the “o” and the “u” to interlock, forming the OU logo. The mascot’s signature was always written with the interlocking “OU.”
