NORMAN — Buddy Hield screamed last year when he found out on a phone call from Oklahoma assistant coach Chris Crutchfield that he'd been named Big 12 Player of the Year by the league's coaches.
This time around, the reaction was much more subdued when Sooners coach Lon Kruger called to deliver the news.
“I was in my apartment,” Hield said Sunday after becoming the second player in Big 12 history to win the award twice. “You can't have much noise.”
Hield joins Kansas' Raef LaFrentz (1997, '98) as the only repeat winners of the award.
