NORMAN — OU is planning on having fans in the stands when its football season kicks off Sept. 12 against Missouri State.
There will be far fewer than normal, though.
The athletic department announced Wednesday that it currently projected 25 percent capacity at Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium this season.
"The capacity reduction will allow us to create distancing in the seating bowl," OU athletic director Joe Castiglione said in a release. "Other policies in the stadium will be introduced as we alter our operations as a result of the COVID-19 virus."
The department began reaching out to season ticket holders Wednesday to gauge interest in attending games this season.
