OU football: Lincoln Riley says Bob Stoops is helping Sooners' coaching staff at practice

NORMAN — Bob Stoops came out of retirement Tuesday to help an OU coaching staff that has been affected by the pandemic.

The Sooners’ game last Saturday at West Virginia was postponed because of COVID-19 testing and contact tracing. OU’s home game this Saturday against Baylor is still scheduled.

Sooner coach Lincoln Riley said Tuesday that positive testing and contact tracing has affected all elements of the program, from support staff to coaching staff.

Stoops, who retired as head coach in June 2017, remains under contract with OU as a special assistant to the athletic director and thus was eligible to fill in on the practice field.
