NORMAN — OU led by 16 points in the final minute Saturday when, after Spencer Rattler took a knee for the second consecutive time, TCU coach Gary Patterson called a timeout.
After a 2-yard run by Seth McGowan, Patterson called another timeout.
The Sooners then kicked a field goal on fourth down.
Monday, OU coach Lincoln Riley said he was perplexed.
“I didn’t understand it,” Riley said. “We were trying to end the game, but I try to stay in my own lane. The thing you don’t want to happen is have someone get hurt in a moment like that on either team.
