OU football journal: Anderson, running game plays big role early in Sooners win

DALLAS — After being such a focus of the preseason talk at running back, Rodney Anderson hadn't done much leading into Saturday's 29-24 win by Oklahoma over Texas in the Cotton Bowl.

But OU coach Lincoln Riley and running backs coach Jay Boulware both insisted during the week that they were happy with Anderson's play, just that he hadn't had the opportunities to be successful.

With Abdul Adams out with an apparent ankle injury, Anderson got a bigger chance against the Longhorns and thrived, rushing for 48 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.
