McGuire was considered for the head coaching job at Baylor after Rhule was hired by the NFL’s Carolina Panthers earlier this month, but the Bears ultimately went with LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda.
McGuire, who served as Baylor’s interim coach after Rhule’s departure, figures to have an opportunity to remain with the Bears but could look elsewhere.
Another candidate for Boulware’s spot could be former Sooners star running back DeMarco Murray.
Murray is currently the running backs coach for Arizona under Kevin Sumlin, who was the Sooners’ co-offensive coordinator during Murray’s first two seasons in Norman.
