NORMAN — The Sooners have two semifinalists for the Maxwell Award and two semifinalists for the Bednarik Award this season.
Senior quarterback Jalen Hurts and junior wide receiver CeeDee Lamb are both semifinalists for the Maxwell Award, and junior linebackers Kenneth Murray and redshirt senior defensive lineman Neville Gallimore are Bednarik semifinalists. Both semifinalist lists were announced by the Maxwell Football Club on Tuesday.
The Maxwell Award is given annually to the best player in college football, and the Chuck Bednarik Award is given to the most outstanding defensive player of the year.
This season, Hurts has thrown for 2,469 yards and 21 touchdowns through eight games.
