OU football: Five takeaways from Sooners' 62-9 win vs. Kansas Jayhawks

NORMAN — Spencer Rattler could’ve dove. He could’ve sidestepped.

But OU’s quarterback didn’t hesitate to initiate contact with Kansas safety Ricky Thomas on his second-quarter touchdown.

The play was mostly inconsequential, a 2-yard touchdown run on first-and-goal from the 2 in a game the Sooners ultimately won 62-9.

But it could’ve been a costly one.

Thomas delivered a blow to Rattler’s left hip right as the quarterback crossed the goalline.

Rattler walked off the field, wincing instead of celebrating the touchdown which put the Sooners up 21-0.

He returned on the next series but after throwing his first pass after Thomas’ hit, Rattler removed himself from the game.
