NORMAN — Running back Samaje Perine entered the season 1,057 yards shy of surpassing Billy Sims' Oklahoma career rushing record.
With 1,713 and 1,349 yards in the last two seasons, Perine was already being penciled in as the newest record holder.
But with just 89 yards on 16 carries through the first two games of the season, that goal, though still achievable, appears to be a little more difficult to reach than it originally appeared.
To set the record in the regular season, Perine needs to average at least 96.8 yards in each of the remaining 10 games.
