OU football: Clemson could challenge 47-game winning streak

The Clemson-LSU national championship game offers Oklahomans a tough choice. Which Tigers command your allegiance?

It’s always easy to cheer against the Southeastern Conference. But it might be in the Sooners’ best interests, for historical reasons.

If Clemson wins, we have to get real serious about Dabo Swinney’s program threatening OU’s 47-game winning streak.

One of the most hallowed records in sport has stood for 63 years. The Sooners beat Texas 19-14 on October 10, 1953, and didn’t lose again until November 16, 1957, when Notre Dame pulled that famous 7-0 stunner in Norman.

Since then, few programs have mounted even a cursory threat to the 47-game winning streak.
