NORMAN — Too many times last season, Oklahoma defensive coordinator Alex Grinch felt like players waited for a big play to create energy.
They weren’t aggressive enough themselves, even with 86,000 fans in the stands.
Now, with less than 23,000 fans expected in Gaylord Family—Oklahoma Memorial Stadium for Saturday’s opener against Missouri State, Grinch is pushing his players to make their own energy.
Grinch said he’s constantly addressing the energy and lack of fans with the players. He even talked about it Wednesday morning after practice.
“I think that’s a constant,” Grinch said. “I try to remind these guys they didn’t have 80,000 at Iowa Western.
