OU basketball: Virginia's Mamadi Diakite was X-factor against Sooners

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Virginia center Jack Salt, a regular starter, played just two minutes Sunday night. Cavaliers coach Tony Bennett instead opted to start the more versatile Mamadi Diakite. Diakite, a 6-foot-9 forward, spent most of his minutes guarding OU forward Kristian Doolittle. Virginia guard De’Andre Hunter, the ACC defensive player of the Year, drew the assignment of Brady Manek. Diakite starred for the Cavaliers. Hunter and guards Ty Jerome and Kyle Guy were All-ACC players for Virginia, but it was Diakite who played at that level against the Sooners.
