OSU football: Chuba Hubbard wins Cornish Trophy

STILLWATER — Oklahoma State star running back Chuba Hubbard is now officially the top Canadian player in the country.

Hubbard was named the winner of the Cornish Trophy, it was announced Wednesday. The award is presented annually to Canada’s top NCAA football player.

Hubbard beat fellow teammate Amen Ogbongbemiga. He also topped Oklahoma defensive lineman Neville Gallimore, Notre Dame receiver Chase Claypool and Ohio quarterback Nathan Rourke, who has won the past two Cornish Trophy awards.

Last season, Hubbard lost out two Rourke by one vote.

Hubbard led the nation with 2,094 rushing yards. He scored 21 touchdowns and earned unanimous All-American status and Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors.
