OSU and OU football: Loss of college football could be financially devastating for state athletic departments

NORMAN — Just a few weeks after her team’s season was cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic, OU women’s basketball coach Sherri Coale was as concerned about football as her sport.

“All of college sports hinges on what happens with football,” Coale said. “That’s an easy one.”

Tuesday, the Big Ten and Pac 12 announced they were postponing their football seasons, hoping to play instead in the spring.

Big 12 presidents met Tuesday night to discuss their plans moving forward, though no decision was expected immediately.

An unnamed high-ranking Big 12 official told Yahoo Sports on Tuesday before the meeting, “There’s an increasing sentiment that we’ll play.
