In a Thursday press release, OU Athletics announced that an anonymous donor from Oklahoma City has pledged $1.25 million towards the construction of a new stadium for the Oklahoma Sooners softball program.
AD Joe Castiglione expressed his gratitude for the supremely generous gift, saying “A gift of this kind is paramount to our momentum and we are very appreciative.”
In June of 2018, the OU Board of Regents approved the plans to build a new softball complex, but funding has been the only hurdle keeping the plans from moving forward. Overall, it’s a $25 million project, and if the donations received by the Softball Foundational Donor Program can reach approximately half of that total, everything else can finally be set into motion.
