Oklahoma Sooners news: OU jumps in CFP rankings, new commitment and more

The Oklahoma Sooners are finally high enough in the rankings to get a spot in the College Football Playoff.

The Sooners were No. 8 in the third CFP rankings of the season that were released Tuesday evening. They jumped three spots from last week's rankings after upsetting then-No. 4 Alabama on the road Saturday.

The leap put the Sooners comfortably in the playoff picture after being on the outside looking in the last two weeks. And not only did the No. 8 slot put the Sooners inside the 12-team field, but it's also good enough for them to host a first-round playoff game at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
