According to Patty Gasso, senior right-handed pitcher Mariah Lopez is entering the NCAA Transfer Portal ahead of her final collegiate season. The Oklahoma Sooners’ head coach explained the situation to James Hale, host of Total Sports on KREF Radio, as “in limbo.”
It’s a little bit of a blow, especially when the trio of Giselle Juarez, Lopez and Shannon Saile worked so well together throughout the 2019 season. Still, I can understand Mariah’s thinking if she simply wants the chance to be the definitive ace on a team. Going into 2020, ‘G’ remains the pitcher to beat in that regard.
