Oklahoma scene: OU baseball sweeps Texas Southern

The No. 16-ranked OU baseball team swept its two-game series against Texas Southern with a 12-1 run-rule victory Wednesday in Norman.

Sophomore Trent Brown hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to end the game. The Sooners (4-1) scored five runs in the frame.

OU freshman Jake Bennett, a former Bixby standout, struck out seven batters over four innings and earned the victory in his first career start.

With the loss, Texas Southern fell to 0-6.

OU will host a four-game series against Illinois State. The opener is set for 3 p.
