UCO wins MIAA Tournament
The No. 21-ranked Central Oklahoma softball team captured the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Tournament title Sunday with a 10-6 win over Emporia State (Kan.).
UCO senior Ashleigh Tramel, of Grove, delivered a grand slam in the top of the first inning to help the Bronchos jump to a 6-0 lead. Emporia State fought back to cut UCO's lead to 7-6 after five innings, but the Bronchos' three-run burst in the sixth helped ensure the program's sweep of the MIAA regular season and tournament championships.
The Bronchos are headed to the NCAA Division II Tournament after clinching the conference's automatic bid.
