This is the fifth consecutive year that the Sooners have been tabbed No. 1 in the preseason coaches poll. Oklahoma 419 total points, including receiving 19 of 20 first-place votes. Stanford finished second in the preseason poll, followed by three Big Ten schools: Illinois, Minnesota and Michigan. Minnesota was runner-up to OU in last year’s NCAA Championships.
OU returns a solid core of All-American gymnasts from last season’s national championship squad, including senior Yul Moldauer, who captured four individual national titles at the 2018 NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Championships, including the all-around championship.
Also back for the Sooners in 2019 are fellow All-Americans seniors Levi Anderson and Genki Suzuki and junior Tanner Justus.
