Oklahoma football: West Virginia quarterback Austin Kendall's homecoming goes poorly — as expected

NORMAN — West Virginia tailback Leddie Brown swung out of the backfield to find nothing but green grass. No Sooner in sight. Perfect play call on a 4th-and-4 play from the Oklahoma 11-yard line. Mountaineer quarterback Austin Kendall flipped the ball in Brown’s direction — and missed him by five feet.

Kendall’s shoulders slumped. The game was long since decided — 52-14 OU at the time, 52-14 at the end — but Kendall’s return to Owen Field on Saturday was not what he wanted. But it’s what he had to expect.

Lincoln Riley swears that Kendall went stride for stride with Kyler Murray 14 months ago for the OU quarterback job.
