Oklahoma football: Sooners win major defensive recruiting battle

Washington is a 6-foot-2, 196 pound four-star safety who chose Oklahoma football over offers from 23 schools including Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Georgia and Texas.

He is a rangy safety with competitive ball skills and sure tackling ability and a perfect fit for the Alex Grinch scheme.

The Sooners and Longhorns were the final two choices for Washington and the commitment marks a major recruiting win over a heated rival and the third big victory in the last three weeks for Alex Grinch.

Grinch started gaining traction on the recruiting trail with the commitment of four-star JUCO defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey a rising recruit with offers from several SEC schools.
