Criddell made his announcement live on national television during the ESPN live broadcast of National Early Signing Day. He was previously committed to Oregon and chose the Sooners over the Ducks.
Oklahoma had notable misses on the recruiting trail at the position over the past few months with in-state five-star safety Daxton Hill heading to Michigan and notable high-profile target Jordan Battle picking Alabama over the Sooners.
Depth has been a major concern at the safety position over the past year with cornerbacks Brendan Radley-Hiles and Jordan Parker both moving over to help on the back end through the year.
