NORMAN — When Samaje Perine goes home for school breaks, his mom regularly catches him doing push-ups and sit-ups in his bedroom — with a deck of cards at his side.
Perine's home in Pflugerville, Texas, isn't close to any gyms, so he asked assistant Oklahoma strength coach Mahala Wiggins for a good home workout. Wiggins suggested getting a deck of cards, shuffling them, drawing them one at a time and doing the number of push-ups that appear on the card.
Aces and Jokers are 20. Kings, Queens and Jacks are 10.
So Perine goes through the entire deck each morning, then reshuffles and does the same thing with sit-ups.
