NORMAN, Okla. -- Pete Hughes resigned as baseball coach, university vice president and athletics director Joe Castiglione announced Monday.

Hughes coached the Sooners for four seasons and finished with a 128-107-1 record. His teams were 44-51 in the Big 12, finishing as high as third place in 2015 and 2017.

This season, OU (35-24, 12-11 Big 12) advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time under Hughes but were eliminated in the Louisville Regional.

Castiglione said the search for a new coach will begin immediately.
