It’s a precarious path at a school known for quarterback stability. Jimmy Harris, Bobby Warmack, Jack Mildren, Steve Davis, Jamelle Holieway, Cale Gundy, Sam Bradford, Landry Jones, Baker Mayfield. OU has a long history of quarterbacks who started at least three straight seasons.
But such luxury is not always available. And as Murray has just shown, a one-year starter doesn’t have to mean offensive rebuilding.
In fact, the Sooners have done quite well with one-year starters. They’ve also struggled, too, which means OU has had some half-year starters.
